This is a 4-hour program that is designed to introduce homeschoolers to geology and rock climbing in an outdoor and very hands-on setting. This is specifically designed for homeschool students! We will spend about one hour learning about geology & hiking and three hours of rock climbing. Each week we will cover a different geology subject, including the structure of the earth & plate tectonics, the three different rock types, minerals, and Earthquakes.
An alternative to traditional sports, rock climbing is a great way to stay active, learn body awareness, develop physical strength, and have fun with other homeschoolers. As an introduction to climbing outdoors; students will learn about body movement, personal protection equipment (harness, ropes & anchors). Depending on the age (12+) and ability, students may also learn to and belay their fellow classmates.
