  • Gym 2 Crag

    Idaho Mountain Guides has partnered with Vertical View and The Commons Climbing Gyms to offer The Gym to Crag Climbing Course. This two-day adventure is perfect for climbers looking to transition from indoor to outdoor climbing.

    What to Expect:

    Day 1: Transition to Outdoor Class

    Learn essential skills for outdoor climbing and prepare for your outdoor adventure.

    Day 2: Guided Outdoor Climbing Trip

    Put your new skills to the test on a guided climb at the iconic Black Cliffs.

    Climbers will learn to set up top rope systems, how to break down an anchor and safely descent, and advanced climbing techniques. This course will NOT provide lead climbing instruction, but a subsequent course will.

    Self-Rescue is a critical (and hopefully never used climbing skill). Our self-rescue seminar is 6-hours and will give you a broad overview and provide you with a basic understanding of how to handle a bad situation. We first focus on minimizing opportunities for an accident or incident. We teach efficient systems designed to help you practically solve situations. Self-rescue is an essential skill whether you’re lead climbing, top-roping, or even just belaying.
